  • When using Paypal Advanced the emails ‘order confirmed’ admin emails and the receipt emails don’t send unless the user clicks the “return to merchant site”.

    There’s a very high chance that the user won’t click that since they’re technically still at my site.. so then they won’t get the order receipt, and our team won’t get the order confirmation email to actually fulfill the order.

    This is a huge problem for us and we can’t rely on a user’s follow up action for this. Even a huge button that says “FINISH ORDER” will leave some less careful users without an order.

    How can I fix this issue?

    Someone will thank me for this answer:

    the solution was to go in to Paypal manager and do the following:

    Home > Hosted Checkout Pages > Setup > Payment Confirmation section:

    Under that section change “Show my confirmation page” to “On my website”, and just put the base url for the thank-you or receipt page there. It’s really just a placeholder value, WooCommerce will redirect to the correct url containing the params you need anyway effectively overriding this one.
