    Hi. I have searched for this issue but decided to open a new thread because my case is a little different.
    I got a messsge displayed at the top:

    EMAIL DELIVERY ERROR: WP Mail SMTP plugin logged this error during the last time it tried to send an email:

    Mailer: Other SMTP
    PHPMailer was able to connect to SMTP server but failed while trying to send an email.
    Please review your WP Mail SMTP settings in plugin admin area. Consider running an email test after fixing it.

    I have tried sending test mail and it successfully sent each time I tried. After the test successfully executed, the message dissappear for a while and eventually will reappear.
    I am not sure what is the issue because the mail is working fine.

    I am using SMTP btw.

  • From previous issue opened by another members, this error shows up after an email failed to be sent. I tested and it is working fine. Maybe because my users using fake email and the system can’t send an email when I replied to their comment?

    Can I turn this messsge permanently? At this point I don’t really care about the error be ause it is working fine in my environment.

    No, you can’t turn if off, as this is a critically important part of the site functionality – sending emails.
    This message will disappear right after the next successful email sending.

    This message may indeed appear when PHPMailer tries to send emails to non existant domains/email addresses.

    @slaffik The problem is, the message never dissappear even I successfully received email whenever user commented. It will only dissappear after I do an Email test, but is just temporary. The weird thing is, I have been using this plugin as long as I remember and the message popped out since 2 weeks ago.

    Anyway does that means I can trigger that error on any website that is using this plugin by posting a comment with fake email?

    @slaffik So I decided to take my own path to hide this unfixable error.

    I edited function display_debug_notices() by putting this code:

    if(strpos($notice, 'PHPMailer was able to connect to SMTP server but failed while trying to send an email') !== false){
        return;
    }

    Is this okay to do to get rid of this specific error?

    If that site sends email notifications on new comments – then yes.

    This error message is in the plugin since 1.3, which was in June.

    Is this okay to do to get rid of this specific error?

    On next plugin update you will lose this change.

    Thanks
