So, now clicking on the email button opens Outlook, which I suppose means that the button has a “mailto” link instead of using an integrated email feature. Is this now the desired behavior? I have issues with mailto links because many people I know do not use Outlook (which will open by default for these types of links on a PC).
Hi rachelexodus, the email button does link to “mailto” for now which in turn opens whatever is the default email method on the given machine. For instance, Gmail will open if the user has Gmail set as their default emailing program in their OS.
We’ve had spam issues with the integrated email form which caused issues with our email/SMTP provider. We will probably get it back as a premium feature.
The strange design is that having wordpress, there’s mostly chance there’s a local mail() function and that share feature should rely on it more than a unique externalized smtp server…
