    Hi,

We are using CF7 on one of our customer’s website and today, they ran into an issue. For some reason, they received two emails where the content of the email is missing a big part of the html. First of all, any information coming from the form’s fields is not displayed, but there is also more than half of the html that makes up the body that is missing. Unfortunately, I haven’t been able to replicate the issue on my end, but the customer forwarded me the faulty emails. I’m assuming it might be a bug that only happens in certain conditions and I’m left with very little to work with. Luckily, we are using Mail SMTP and there are logs. On the broken emails, the subject is supposed to be “Aperçu des tarifs | ” then the name of the customer. But in the logs, it shows up as “=?UTF-8?Q?Aper=C3=A7u_des_tarifs_|_Pierre-Alexis_Lebrun?=”. Does that give you any insight on what might cause this?

I know it’s vague, but there’s very little I can work with since I was not able to replicate the issue. Feel free to ask anything. I can send you the emails our customer has recieved as well as the configuration for the forms that seem to be problematic.

The contact form at the very bottom of this page showed the problem, as well as this form here

    See Setting up mail

What email settings do you have in the Mail tab panel?

To protect personal data, hiding email addresses in the settings or replacing them with dummy addresses is strongly advised.

I figured out the problem. Turns out that the customer requested these specific forms to have no required fields, so either a bot or some visitor was spamming the Send button on them and thus was sending empty emails. I still don’t know why that broke the Subject field as it did in the logs but I guess that’s more of a Mail SMTP issue than anything else. I apologize, I should have checked that first but thanks alot for your time!
