Email before PDF download + Mailchimp integration? (4 posts)

I see this all the time on websites. The user has to provide an email and then the website sends you to a page and/or emails you with a link to download a PDF (a white paper, ebook, etc.). It's a great way to capture people's contact information while providing value in return.

I've seen a few plugins that accomplish this. However, the one thing they all seem to lack is the ability to integrate with Mailchimp. I don't need the email to be captured within my WordPress database. I want the provided email to go directly into my Mailchimp list. Ideally, I'd like to be able to have different email sign up forms for each PDF download I want to offer on my site (i.e. there won't be just one PDF and one email form).

    Any solutions out there? Thanks!

I posted this on Linked In; you have to be patient for answers. :)

Yes, you can do this with MailChimp.
You can create a different MailChimp List for each of your pdfs. Then for each List you can edit the signup forms, the General forms, to edit all the pages - the confirmation pages, thank you pages, etc. The thank you page is where you would put your download link. You can add text and links to MailChimp's pages or add a url for your own custom page.
Then for each List, you can either link to the MailChimp page signup form or you can grab the code and embed the forms in your site.

You can also use a MailChimp signup plugin for WordPress, but most won't let you add more than one list. Pippins Plugins has one for a small amount.

I have a post on adding the MailChimp signup form code to your site without a plugin. The first image on that post shows the MailChimp Lists page and where to get started.
