Hi, I’m in the process of setting up my first wp.org site and my first Mailchimp list.

I’ve searched in Mailchimp for a widget that asks users to provide their email address in return for a free pdf download but cant find one. Perhaps I’m using the wrong words?

    Hope someone can advise.

    thanks
    Sue

    Hello Sue,

I believe you have contacted us directly as well. My colleague shall answer your question soon, meanwhile I’ll close the ticket here.

Hi Harish, your colleague answered my initial question very promptly two days ago but I think she misunderstood what I was asking. I haven’t heard from her since I replied and tried to explain myself better. So I look forward to hearing more. Many thanks, Sue.

    Hi Sue,

There are various ways to go about this.

    1. Include the link to your PDF download in your “final confirmation email”. You can customize the contents of this email in your MailChimp account. Here’s an article on our site with some helpful steps: https://mc4wp.com/kb/customising-confirmation-email/ .

    2. Use the download link for your PDf as the “Redirect to this URL on success” setting in the form settings.

    3. (Advanced) Use MailChimp for WordPress + Download Monitor + the Download Monitor – MailChimp Lock add-on. This uses the same steps as #1 but ensures someone is still subscribed to the list before they can download the file.

Hope that helps. If not, let me know!

Thanks Danny, I’ve been experimenting with 1. but I think I’ll try 2. (your colleague did get back to me later yesterday as well).

    thanks
