Hello @reneyoung,
Thank you so much for using support forum for the query.
Actually, if the featured image is missing, the grey placeholder will appear there. Thus, you need to add the featured image on all the post to appear the thumbnail. Thus, please edit the post and add the featured image.
Please let us know if you need any further ideas.

Thanks for the quick reply. But my question was about the EM YouTube Video Slider widget. In the widget, the videos listed from the demo content were just YouTube video URLs. I replaced them with my own YouTube video URLs. These are not posts or pages with featured images. What should appear is the thumbnail image of the YouTube videos. It does with the demo content. In fact, the thumbnails for my videos ARE visible in the small ones (Video 2, Video 3, Video 4…) to the right of the video in the “Video 1” position in the widget. It’s just “Video 1”, the larger one, that displays a placeholder.
Never mind – I figured it out. It seems that the widget has trouble pulling in the video’s thumbnail if the YouTube video uses a custom thumbnail rather than one from a frame in the video. I edited my videos to use a frame capture thumbnail instead of the custom one, and now it displays properly in the widget. I don’t know why that would make a difference, but it might be something you want to investigate.
