the 404 is most likely caused by a mod_security (or similar web application firewall) which thinks the paths with dots in them which you’ll very likely have in your critical css are directory traversal attacks. talk to you host to fix this or change the paths to ones without the dots, e.g.
hope this clarifies,
I have tried all the options which you have suggested to various users in different places/threads. Thanks for your extensive support.
Currently I have set
Optimize HTML checked
Optimize JS checked
Also aggregate inline JS checked
Optimize CSS checked
Generate data: URIs for images? checked
Inline and Defer CSS? checked (I have set critical CSS path)
No CDN but using free cloudflare and w3 super cache
My insight score for http://krazytech.com for mobile is just 55 and for desktop its 77.
Also for top posts like http://krazytech.com/technical-papers/latest-technical-paper-topics-for-presentation
Mobile – 42, Desktop – 59.
I do not know why this difference for individual pages.
It would be a great favor if you guide me what is wrong here.
look at the detailed GPSI recommendations @ravibbb; you have an important amount JS (and some CSS) loaded from 3rd party sites and those are render-blocking and thus killing your pagespeed scores.
Thanks a lot for the reply Frank. I got this now.
I see that most of the render-blocking JS is from Cloudflare.com.
I had though cloudflare is very useful. With autoptimize, super cache this can be achieved easily I guess. Shall I point DNSs directly to my host ?
Would you recommend any other affordable CDNs ?
Thanks a ton again !
http://www.martinblee.com/ this is my website. I have installed the Autoptime plugin, but everytime I inline the CSS it gets messed up.
I ran the page speed and saw 12 blocking script resources and 7 blocking CSS resources for mobile and 3 blocking script resources and 4 blocking CSS resources for desktop.
Can you guys help me out to resolve this ASAP.
I’m not sure all those requests are actually because you use cloudflare, it’s just as possible your theme (or a plugin) load JS from cloudflare’s CDN …
Thanks Frank for your views.
I will take some action against this.
Great thread! I am watching your YouTube video now
I followed the steps for checking off Inline and defer CCS and followed those steps. When I do that the menu and top image header disappears from the website so that won’t work for me. And when I re-ran the test the mobile speed only went up 2 points.
This is the website I’m trying to improve (FYI I did NOT build this website) Seems like they didn’t do a very good job, I have cleaned up A LOT of stuff
Any other suggestions?
I also keep getting these errors
Remove the following redirect chain if possible:
What is this pixel.mathtag.com?
MediaMath is a global provider of digital advertising media and data management technology. MediaMath’s TerminalOne™ Marketing Operating System (the “Platform”) activates data, automates execution, and optimizes advertising interactions across addressable media — delivering greater performance, transparency, and control to marketers and a better experience to consumers.
so someone (the developers) or something (a plugin) added visitor tracking to the site.
Any other suggestions?
well, I see you’re using AO and WPFC, which is great combo, but you should disable all minification in WPFC or disable AO to avoid problems; minifiers are a jealous bunch 😉 once you’ve done that, it’s possible the impact of inlining your critical CSS will be higher (and the result better).
hope this helps,
Thanks Frank, I tried that and the slider on the home page still disappears. I’ll just leave that part alone for now.
Now for the MediaMath, how do I remove that stuff? I don’t see a Plugin that might be related to it. These are the plugins on the site currently
Vamtam Push Menu
WP Retina 2x
WP Video Lightbox
MDR Webmaster Tools
no idea to be honest, guess you’ll have to disable plugins one at a time to identify the culprit.
And I didn’t touch anything with my home slider but the images are all of a sudden gone. Even in the plugin they are just gone.
I tell ya, I hate WP sometimes. lol
I see following link in render blocking CSS. This is the critical css file. Do I need to take some action for this ?
the critical files are not cached in wp-content/cache/autoptimize/, so this is a “normal” CSS-file (which is deferred). if you’re doing “inline & defer” and the deferred file is still showing as render blocking, your critical CSS is not complete (or not complete enough to render your above-the-fold content), so you’ll have to tweak that.
Please could you help me, I’m trying to get my site (very much not finished however I wanted to see if it was possible to get a word press site super fast on mobile and then I was super excited to find Autoptimize 🙂
I have watched your video on how to eliminate render blocking CSS in above the fold content and as far as I can see I’ve done that correctly, however when I put it through my site through pagespeed insights I’m still getting these messages. I’ve really tried to work out if I’m doing something wrong and I just can’t. If you have any words of wisdom I’d really appreciate it.
Your page has 1 blocking script resources and 3 blocking CSS resources. This causes a delay in rendering your page.
