    Hi kbatdorf (@kbat82)

    I’ve been using MetaSlider for a long time – and love the simplicity … thanks!

    MetaSlider also works with Elementor BUT for some reason the WYSIWYG-feeling in the backend is lost (I use the MetaSlider block).

    instead of the first image the settings are displayed …. any chance that this could be fixed?

    The MetaSlider works fine “frontend”

    You can see a screenshot of the problem here:

    Thanks

  • Great …. I’ll be happy to test 😉

    Hi @medieskolen,

    Actually you could test by editing the code in “metaslide.class.php” by changing

    if ( $doing_ajax || $viewing_preview || $viewing_theme_editor ) {
    	return $this->get_public_slide();
    }

    to

    if ( true ) {
    	return $this->get_public_slide();
    }

    This will break the typical metaslider settings page so make sure you can revert it after testing. Thanks

    Hi kevin ( @kbat82 )

    As far as I can see via testing this change, it works 🙂
    (of course the pictures are not sliding but the first is viewable)

    Notes:
    Inserting the shortcode should be done with the shortcode-block or by the use of MetaSlider-block. If I insert the shortcode in a text-block I don’t see the slider (only the shortcode) until I leave the page and return.

    The “add slider” icon/button is not working when in a text-block in Elementor.

    You can only have one of each sliders per page (I wonder why … because sometimes I like to use a speciffic slider twice on the same page)

    Hi @medieskolen,

    I put together a better development version of this fix if you would like to try it out. It’s a development branch so make sure you have access to your server to remove it in case you get a php error or something.

    1. The slideshow wont work, but it will show the first single image. I made a note to investigate a proper Elementor module, but it will take more time. This is a bug fix.
    2. Generally speaking I wouldn’t expect a duplicate slideshow to work on the same page. You’d be better off duplicating the slideshow and using both. The reason is that it uses the ID of the slideshow to initialize, and if the ID is the same, then it’s not reliable.

    You’ll be safe to upgrade as unless you report back some issues, these changes will be a part of the next release.

    Thanks!

    Hi kevin ( @kbat82 )

    I’ve tested and this dev-plugin works fine aswell 🙂

    (Thanks for replying my note-questions 😉

    Hi kevin ( @kbat82 )

    After your next update og MetaSlider (with the “elementor-Fix”) … remember to write “Works with elementor in the Feature-list 😉

    Great job and thanks from Lars in Copenhagen

    @kbat82

    Using Meta Slider on a new site

    All plugins (incl. meta Slider and Elementor + Elementor pro) are updatet, but the first image in the slider is not showing in the “Elementor editor” …. ONLY if I write something in the Title (which I seldom do) (even a “space” will do the trick)
    Without doing so the Slideshow is not showing/activated in the preview either 🙁

    I’m still here and I will help if I can 😉

    Plugin versions

    Meta Alider: Version 3.11.1
    Elementor: Version 2.4.6
    Elementor Pro: Version 2.4.4

    Hi @medieskolen,

    The dev version I sent you works but the released version doesnt? I thought they were the same version 😀

    Can you make sure it’s not an issue with caching or something else?

    Hi @kbat82

    The dev-version worked fine (was it Version 3.11.0 ??) ….anyway that version works fine in Elementor but Version 3.11.1 doen’t … sorry

    I don’t think it’s a cache-problem

    I’m using latest versions of Elementor
    Elementor : version 2.4.6
    Elementor Pro : version 2.4.4

    Hi @medieskolen,

    The change from 3.11.0 to 3.11.1 was just to fix a typo actually so there wouldn’t be a difference there. I wonder if something changed in their plugin. I’ll try to reproduce it tomorrow.

    When you start typing it triggers something and shows the slideshow. Maybe an event or something. Does the same thing happen if you resize the browser window?

    @kbat82

    Resizing the browser window doesnt change the problem

    But when I type something in the title OR if there is more than one slideshow a I choose the second one the first image is showing

    In some way this is a new problem … because back a month ago I saw the settings … and now it’s only a grey “bar” (I hope you understand 😉

    Hi @medieskolen,

    I see what is happening now. Elementor requires an action after adding the widget for it to trigger the loading of the slideshow. So changing the title or selecting a different slideshow triggers it.

    I’m not sure there is a quick fix for this. I would say this is a bug on their side, but I’ll take a quick look through their documentation and see if there is a way to trigger it manually.
