    Hey guys,

I have a problem with Yoast in combination with Elementor Landing Pages.

When does Yoast work without any problems?
With the page types Post and Page Yoast works completely fine!

When does Yoast not work correctly?
With the page type Landing Page however, the pages don’t show the correct Title, Description or meta robots data on the frontend. Instead there is no Description at all and the Title and meta robots tag seem to be filled with the Website default/fallback data.

The title is the general website title which is also shown on the homepage, the meta robots tag contains “index, follow, max-image-preview:large, max-snippet:-1, max-video-preview:-1” instead of the “noindex” which is configured in the page settings and the description that is configured in the page settings is not showing at all.

However, Yoast SEO seems to be loaded on the faulty pages as I can see the source code comment

<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v20.11 - https://yoast.com/wordpress/plugins/seo/ -->

before the <title> tag, another Yoast HTML comment which is saying that you don’t see a meta description since there is none (which is wrong) as well the ending comment of Yoast SEO

    <!-- / Yoast SEO plugin. -->

When is all Yoast data shown correctly?

When I open the Landing Page with quick edit and switch it to “private”, the URL of the Landing Page changes:

    https://example.com/page
    becomes
    https://example.com/e-landing-page/page

After that, all Yoast data like Title, Meta Description and Meta Robots Tag are all shown correctly on https://example.com/e-landing-page/page

    What did I try already?

    • Clearing all Caches
    • Regenerate Elementor CSS
    • Swithing Themes
    • Deactivating Plugins
    • Reset Indexable tables & migrations with the Yoast Test Helper

Does anyone else experience these problems? How can I approach that problem?

    Thank you for reaching out.

Thank you for bringing this issue to our attention! We apologize for the trouble you are currently experiencing with our plugin.

You are actually not the first to report this issue. That means a bug report has been created and is under review by our product team.

    Workaround
The wpseo_robots filter can be used to customize the index output. Typically code snippets are added to your theme’s functions.php file. If you’re not familiar with using code snippets, we’d like to refer you to the WordPress documentation on how to use a filter. An example code snippet can be found here:

    What’s next?
Our product team will assess the severity of this problem in relation to other open bug reports and new features. Based on their assessment, the bug report will be given a priority level. Our developers work on the highest priority issues first. Unfortunately, this means we cannot give you an estimate of when they’ll start working on your report.

If you have any further information that may affect the prioritization or help our development team solve this bug, please feel invited to reply to this forum topic, and we’ll share the information with our product team

    @suascat_wp thanks for your reply!

Just out of curiosity, can you tell me how many other people told you about this Bug and when you got the bug reports?

I am a little familiar with WordPress and PHP but usually I only code in JS. Can you tell me which exact filter I need to set to fix this issue?

Also are you sure that the “wp_robots” filter will solve the problem, that the HTML Title is wrong and the Meta Description is missing? For me it seems that the wp_robots is only related to the meta robots information.

Do I get you right, that there is no code/filter to fix all the landing pages but I have to create an add_filter + function to customize the seo-data for one specific post?

    Example:

    add_filter( ‘wpseo_robots’, ‘fix_landingpage_1’ );

and then the function “fix_landingpage_1” that checks if the landing page is “landingpage_1” and then return the correct Yoast Data?

Thanks for your help, i really appreciate that!

Hey it’s me again. I found out how to reproduce this problem.

In my WordPress settings I have set the permalinks to the custom structure
    /%category/%postname%
With this setting, the Elementor Landing Pages have wrong Yoast data

When I change the permalink settings to only
    %postname%
the Yoast data on the Elementor Landing Pages is correct.

In both cases, the Landing Page URL is 100% identical and it does not change.

Is it possible that there is a bug at Yoasts or Elementors side? I have tested it on 2 seperate WordPress instances and both have the same problem.

Can you try to reproduce the error or do you have any idea why this happens and how to fix it? Why is changing the permalink structure fixing the Landing Page Yoast data?

    Thanks for your help!

    Hey,

I just wanted to let you know that I double checked this issue with the Elementor support and that they could replicate this problem on their own WordPress systems.

They say that this is a bug of the Yoast Plugin and that Yoast would need to fix this.

Could you have a look at this?

    Thanks for your support!

    @linag1398

Unfortunately, this is a known bug and we are able to reproduce it when the permalink is set to /%category%/%postname%/, the title tag on Elementor landing pages just includes the Site Title, not the SEO title entered by the user in the Yoast meta box. The meta description tag is not even output.

One thing I noticed (that may be related) is that before the landing page is published publicly, i.e. page in draft mode or published privately, the landing page is accessible under /e-landing-page/slug/ The title and meta description tags on draft or private landing pages do get created correctly.

When the page is then published publicly, Elementor automatically removes the /e-landing-page/ part from the URL and the problem occurs in the public URL.

    What next?

Due to a large number of issues, we have to focus on issues that either are breaking the plugin or affect many users. Since this issue is neither (yet), we probably cannot fix this short term.

We do agree that this is something that should be addressed and therefore was added to our backlog. This means that it is on our radar: we have been able to confirm the bug and therefore have the intention of fixing this. Unfortunately, due to capacity, we cannot give you an estimate on when this issue will be addressed.

We always encourage our users to contribute to our plugin, not just by submitting issues but also by submitting patches. If you (or someone else) decide(s) to write a patch for this issue, we’ll gladly include it after some code review.

Same issue, that’s very important so to solve this, landing pages are crucial to a site’s life. Ant title tags are ESSENTIAL. Please update the thread!

At least give us a workaround, please

Hi guys, just want to followup. I reported the issue in April 2022 already. Since then, nothing has changed and no fix has been published. Back then I was in touch with Michael Tina (Support engineer at Yoast). But they didn’t do anything so far 🙂

Iam also facing the issue, when can we expect the perfect fix for this issue

I have the same issue, still, but Elementor as well as YOAST are not willing to address a fix for the core feature for years now…

1 year and 4 months later, still the same issue. When using permalink structure /%category%/%postname%/ . Neither Titles, Description nor Yoast SEO meta for landing pages is working at all. Just site title is displayed.

    Any workaround found ?

    Hi,

unfortunately YOAST is completely ignoring my reports still, didn’t change something over the last years which is really hilarious when you consider that Yoast claims to be 100% compatible with Elementor Pro.

Yes, this is absolutely hilarious and was one of the reasons to stop using the Yoast SEO plugin, since I am only working with Elementor.
Unfortunately, the website I am working on isn’t mine and I don’t have a permission to change the SEO plugin…

    Hi guys!
I just made a little FIX for this bug, after a client of mine encountered the same problem.
    Here’s the link https://github.com/MyAIPlugins/fix-yoast-elementor-landing-pages-meta

TAKE IT AS IS: raw and not properly tested.
IT WORKS on my client’s website (with Elementor, Yoast, WPML and other plugins) but it doesn’t mean it will work on every WordPress installation.

God Bless you My AI Plugins!
It’s working but shows 2 warnings on landing pages:

Warning: Attempt to read property “ID” on null in /public_html/wp-includes/post-template.php on line 676

Warning: Attempt to read property “post_type” on null in /public_html/wp-includes/post-template.php on line 677

    EDIT:
Posted a fix in GitHub issues.
