Support » Plugin: LiteSpeed Cache » Elementor background Images not served as WebP

One year ago I wrote “`Hi, I´m using elementor and the background images (background slider or fixed backround images) are not served in WebP format. Thanks”

And @qtwrk answered that “If the images are inserted by CSS , then currently LSCWP can not do webp replacement”.

Has this issue already been resolved? Many thanks again

    Hi,

Yes, it is resolved now in the latest 4.0 version of LS Cache plugin that was just released last week. So please upgrade your plugin and you’ll have webp replacement via CSS. As noted by our development team, a direct upgrade is only supported from v.3.6.4 and for lower versions such as v.3.6.3., the upgrade will result in an error that won’t really cause any issue for your site but just the plugin itself being deactivated by WP and you’ll just need to manually activate it after the upgrade. Please also note the new version will not be marked as 4.0 until it is verified to be stable some time later.

    Best regards.

I did but same problem. Background elementor slider images not shown in webP

I can read in github litespeed cache V4:

**Media** WebP may now be replaced in CSS

    many thanks

    Hi,

What version 4.0 has resolved is the issue with loading webp images in CSS files. I’ve looked at your web page and noticed that webp replacement did indeed happen; it’s just that it didn’t take place everywhere. There are two possible reasons for this.

    1) Not all of the images in your media library have a corresponding WebP version, because you didn’t turn on Create WebP Versions at the beginning. Since some images never have a webp version created, webp replacement naturally won’t take place where these images are called.
    2) Regardless whether you enabled Create WebP Versions at the beginning, certain images still don’t have WebP versions; this is normally because the webp versions are found to be bigger than their corresponding JPG versions and thus get discarded.

Nevertheless, if you verify that the image in question indeed has an existing WebP version but still not loaded, it’ll be a problem indeed and we’ll go from there to troubleshoot it.

    Regards.

    Hi,
    Thanks in advance.

WebP replacement only take place in static images but NOT on the slider background. 0 of my 40 background images are being served as webP despite 35 of them have a webP version (as the Media Library indicates)

Reason 1) I did it at the begining. In fact, LSC Image Information confirm this.
    Image Information
    Images total: 1942 groups
    Congratulations, all gathered!

    Images total: 6864 images
    Congratulations, all requested!

Reason 2) As LSC plugin suggested “Results can be checked in Media Library” I can confirm in my Media Library that 80% of the background SLIDER images have a webP version BUT 0% of them are being served as webP but Jpg.

    Many thanks

Yes @hailite, I have Version 4.0 and CSS is served but, as I´ve written befero, WebP replacement only take place in static images but NOT on the slider background. 0 of my 40 background images are being served as webP despite 35 of them have a webP version (as the Media Library indicates)
