    Hi

My fresh development website is crashing whenever I activate Elementor and Yoast SEO at the same time and try to edit the homepage.

I only have a handful of essential plugins besides Elementor (CPTUI, ACF and YOAST SEO). Everything was fine then eout of nowhere (no recent updates) Elementor stopped working with YOAST. I disabled all plugins, switched to WP 2020 theme and reactivate one-by-one and all work fine – until you active YOAST and you can no longer edit a page, as it brings up a critical error. This is not just with Elementor, but via WP editor also.

As long as one or teh other is disabled I can edit a page, but if both are active together – it’s not possible.

I reinstalled YOAST, which achieved nothing. I reinstalled Elementor – this also did nothing.

Then I realised it was just the homepage (I could edit other pages). So I tried rolling back the homepage to a previous version where everything was working fine – this did nothing. I will now have to delete the page and copy the contents to a new page, as this is the logical next step. The homepage had become corrupt. So I cloned the page. When I went to bin the old page – I received a critical error and WP took about 30 seconds to the delete the old page. However – once removed…. the new page is now accessible with both Elementor and Yoast active again.

However – I’d really like to know what the issue is here – because if I have to disable Yoast and clone/replace/delete every page after I make an edit to it – that will get really unproductive really quick.

Any ideas as to why this is happening?

    Thanks, Lee

  • Hi Lee,

Thank you for contacting us. I’m sorry to read you’ve had such an ordeal wit Yoast and Elementor and I’m glad to read that it has been remedied.

Regarding the reasons why it happened. To really know for sure, you’d need to contact your hosting provider and ask them to provide you with the error log to understand what the critical error related to (could be a large variety of reasons either on the server side or relating to a plugin conflict as some examples).

If they can provide you with such a log pertaining to the time of the fatal error, we could help you look into the file and try and understand the cause.

    Thank you for your input.

    Regards,

    Gil
