I have been using Elementor for several months now on 2 websites.

I have recently updated my Elementor plugin to version 2.0.16 and problems have started occurring.

I create a new section and then enter a text or image widget. When I try to adjust the style of the section (text colour, text size, image size etc) Elementor drops out of the item being edited.
For example, if I try to put in a hex code for the text colour, it will not let me enter the 6 digits, it accepts the first 4 or 5 and then drops out.

This has only started happening in the past week or so and it happens on both my sites.
I can get around this (just about) by disabling all other plugins and themes, but even then Elementor is unstable.
Is there a way I can roll back to the previous version to see if that resolves the problems?

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

  • Hi,

Yes, you can always revert back to an earlier version through the Tools > Version control dashboard.

I see you are using the Posseidon theme ( https://nl.wordpress.org/themes/poseidon/ )

Have you tried switching to a theme that plays well with Elementor like OceanWP ( https://nl.wordpress.org/themes/oceanwp/)?

You can just switch and see if the issue persist, if so it might be some incompatibility with you theme. I for one use OceanWP combo Elementor in 50+ sites and do not have this issue.

Remember, always take a backup to roll back to before make changes or tests!
    I use All in one migration ( https://nl.wordpress.org/plugins/all-in-one-wp-migration/ )

    Hope this helps,
    Annie

Oh and you are sure you meet all these requirements:

    many thanks @logologics

I have been using Elementor for well over a year now and have had no issues at all until the last week.
I have used it with a couple of themes and it has worked well with both, including Poseidon, so the problem should not be with the theme.

Yes, my site/host complies with the requirments.

    Hi Soukos,

Ofcourse I am not sure it is your theme, just a good idea to rule that out to be sure. The fact that things go well with a certain plugin or theme, is no guarantee
it will stay that way for ever, if only right haha!

It is possible that a theme or plugin played well with Elementor for a long time, but after an update of theme and/or Elementor there just might now be something that creates a ( temporarily conflict of some sort )

It might also be a good idea to post your systeminfo ( Elementor&gt>systeminfo ) so we can see what else is cooking in your kitchen haha.

If I am not mistaken, you can avoid this issue, by disabling all plugins?
That tells me one of them is having or creating this conflict.

I do recall the TinyMce editor I use, did give me issues while editing with Elementor a while ago. I had to disable this plugin to be able to edit text blocks and styles too.

After some updates, that was no longer neccessary.
Sometimes these things just resolve themselves when the plugin author in question, roles out his own update.

    Hi Annie,

The only time the problem appears is when I am trying to make changes to the sections. It seems to display OK.

Oops, where do I go to get the system info?

    It is explained here:
    https://wordpress.org/support/topic/please-read-before-you-post-an-issue/

    Short version:
Dashboard > Elementor tab > let the tab expand > see System info.

Scroll down and you can copy and paste or download the info.
Then paste or attach it here.

    Good luck,
    Annie

    Hi Annie,
    Thanks for the help.
I have downloaded the system info

There is one thing which is strange: the system info shows memory as 40M
but when I look in my PHP.ini file it shows the memory as 512M

Please do not post that large amount of info here, it does not work.

If you like, copy that to a https://pastebin.com/ and share the link to that paste. NOTE: You included your email address in that paste and unless you like unsolicited offers and spam, don’t do that.

    Hi Soukos,

That could mean your host has limited it to 40M.
If that is the case, you can set whatever you like, it wont work.

Please talk to your host about this and see what they offer or can do for you in this matter.
