  • Can you see the site OK on Safari after reverting to Twenty Twelve theme?

Thanks for your reply! Will I lose the functionality of this theme after I switch to Twenty Twelve?

Think you’re missing the point here, Steve.

The point of switching to Twenty Twelve is to determine if the problem is in your theme or in WordPress itself. It’s a diagnostic procedure, you eliminate pieces of code until the problem goes away, and then you know where the problem is.

Until you determine where the problem is actually happening, there is no way to fix it.

Thanks, I was just wondering if switching back and forth would cause problems to my current theme.

No. All of your widgets, custom menus and theme options will be saved in your database, so they will be automatically restored if/when you switch back to it.

K thanks. Should I do a back up first just in case it was not saved? I am using BackupBuddy FYI.

Far be it from me to ever stop anyone from making a backup before they change something on their site! It certainly won’t hurt any but I think you’ll never need it. I chop and change themes all of the time without any loss of options, widgets, menus or content.

OK- I’ll play it safe for now and back up. It’s a new theme for my website and I love it (so much more intuitive!), but not being able to find out why it doesn’t load the same across all browsers is upsetting. I’ll check back when it’s backed up. Thanks again all!

Just note that it is normal for a website not to work on all browsers. Different browsers read and interpret websites differently. Unless the theme has been developed specifically for every browser, it should not be surprising that it does not work on every browser.

Edit: We’re debating what I mean by ‘work’.

Actually, I disagree. A theme should work effectively across all modern browsers. It may not match in a pixel-perfect way across different browsers (primarily due to the different browser rendering engines) but it should still look good and function effectively in them.

Out of curiosity, and to rule out the obvious. Can somebody here (with IE, Chrome, Safari, etc) open my URL to see if things are loading correctly?

Specifically on IE, the sidebar and all my widgets including top menu tabs disappear when you click on an actual post.

I can’t access it in Chrome, IE or Safari. I just get a never-ending loading screen.
