Support » Plugin: Off-Canvas Sidebars & Menus (Slidebars) » Effortless to install and easy to use

  • I really like Slidebars and thanks to this plugin, I was able to install it in on my site (genesis sample child theme) effortlessly and in no time.

I was wondering if I can change the direction of the slide out somewhere on the front end? I would really like to adjust the width as well (my menu is very simple and takes up little space). I started fiddling with the CSS, but I was wondering if there is an easier way…

Thanks again for writing the plugin

    Hi @amandavzyl

    Thanks for your review!

I’ll quickly answer your questions 🙂

    – The direction of a sidebar is set from the settings page (backend).
    – The width can also be changed in the backend width the size option (you can even set a custom px or percentage value).
You can however overwrite some CSS values (like width) with CSS by selecting the ID.

    Example (sidebar ID: left):
    #ocs-left {width: 300px}

This will force the sidebar to always be 300px wide. You can then add your own @media selectors for responsive widths.

But before adding CSS for this, please check the sidebars setting pages for all options. I think these should be sufficient!

    Hope this helps!
Also, if you have any ideas for features or find any bugs please let me know!

    Regards, Jory

    Hi Jury

Thanks for your quick reply! My bad, didn’t realize I need to click on the sidebar in the “Sidebars” tab to expand the section and gain access to the specific sidebar settings. I adjusted the settings and it works perfectly now.

    Thanks
    Amanda
