Support » Fixing WordPress » Eek! Category Trouble

  • My problem is that I can no longer access a certain category from the “Categories” Menu of WordPress admin. Instead of the usual “edit” and “delete” functions, I only have a “delete” next to an invisible category. And this has to do with a big boo-boo I committed, that was to add a ” h r e f ” link to the category name in question. Now when I try to delete this bad category, the following 404 page comes up.
    The requested /blog/wp-admin/\”\’
was not found on the server.
I am vexed because ever since this happened i am no longer to specify any other category for my posts other than my default category.
What shall I do? 🙁 sigh. Please help! (I’m only a beginner.) Much thanks in advance.

  • Edit the category directly in your MySQL database.
This can be done nicely with phpMyAdmin.

Sorry, I’m new to all this and I don’t know what MySQL database or phpMyAdmin is. Where can the latter be found? I’d be grateful to anyone who can enlighten me. Thanks much!

You probably have to ask your service provider, since it’s different from person to person.

thanks much everyone! problem solved. just needed to do a little reading up.
