generally speaking, we love the idea of Multilingual Press. However, it seems like after a couple of updates, for the past 3 – 6 months, it’s giving us tremendous headaches with our site.
We’re informing visitors about a tournament series in 5 different languages. Whenever we save a page that has a dedicated translation, the changes might be visible at first and then when you access the site later again, all changes are gone.
I understand that this sounds like a user error with too many open tabs in a browser or a several people accessing the same sites and overwriting the edits that another person made, but it has happened so many times, even when people were editing contents at a time when no one else was editing the page, that we are 100% sure it’s a conflict with either just the plugin or the plugin and theme.
The site is using a drag & drop page builder (Extra Theme by elegant themes), so in the backend, there are a whole lot of shortcodes (a feature slider translates to [et_pb_slider], etc.). I don’t know if the plugin is not compatible with page builders, but as mentioned, we didn’t have any issues up until 3 – 6 months ago after updating to the (back then) latest versions of WP and Extra.
I have ensured that people aren’t using the Ajax / React based version of the site editor and browsing in private mode (a known problem), but it still doesn’t save properly.
We added a couple of new pages, did not link them to any pages in a different language and suddenly everything worked like a charm. So we could backtrack the issue to multilingual press.
As an additional note: We are using NGINX rather than Apache.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
