    Hi there,
generally speaking, we love the idea of Multilingual Press. However, it seems like after a couple of updates, for the past 3 – 6 months, it’s giving us tremendous headaches with our site.

We’re informing visitors about a tournament series in 5 different languages. Whenever we save a page that has a dedicated translation, the changes might be visible at first and then when you access the site later again, all changes are gone.
I understand that this sounds like a user error with too many open tabs in a browser or a several people accessing the same sites and overwriting the edits that another person made, but it has happened so many times, even when people were editing contents at a time when no one else was editing the page, that we are 100% sure it’s a conflict with either just the plugin or the plugin and theme.

The site is using a drag & drop page builder (Extra Theme by elegant themes), so in the backend, there are a whole lot of shortcodes (a feature slider translates to [et_pb_slider], etc.). I don’t know if the plugin is not compatible with page builders, but as mentioned, we didn’t have any issues up until 3 – 6 months ago after updating to the (back then) latest versions of WP and Extra.

I have ensured that people aren’t using the Ajax / React based version of the site editor and browsing in private mode (a known problem), but it still doesn’t save properly.
We added a couple of new pages, did not link them to any pages in a different language and suddenly everything worked like a charm. So we could backtrack the issue to multilingual press.

As an additional note: We are using NGINX rather than Apache.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

    Hi redsoulwarrior,

If I understood correctly, you can edit and save a translation but after some time it reverts to the previous saved version?

If so, it only happens with posts edited by multiple users? or also happens with posts created and edited by a unique user?

Regarding page builders, the issue happens only with posts created using the page builder or also happens with posts created with standard WordPress content editor?

    Thanks,
    Emili

    Hi,
    pretty much, yes.
It appears to happen even if the same user has been the one doing all the edits.

We haven’t created any posts with the standard WP content editor, that’s not really an option if you’re “committed” to this theme I’m afraid (it is its biggest downside by far).

    Thanks for the reply.

    Hi redsoulwarrior,

Then looks like the issue could be related to content, but not sure… Is difficult to know the root of the problem without debugging the site.

If you are interested in further investigation in our side, I recommend you to buy Premium Support which include individual tech support from MultilingualPress developers.

    Thanks,
    Emili

Alright, thank you and I understand.
We’ll abandon using the plugin for the time being, but if we reconsider, I’ll let you know.
