Edit.php in admin for custom post type throwing 500 error

    In the WP admin, on edit.php?post_type=contestentry for my custom post type, the edit.php file shows a 500 error. I found this in the attempt to troubleshoot Screen Options, Quick Edit, and Bulk Edit functions which have stopped working. Clicking them adds a hash to the URL but nothing happens. Is the 500 error causing JS not to load or something?
