Is it a WordPress multisite setup?
No, just 1 site with multiple editors.
Moderate comments – check if editor can edit post, which comments he can not moderate: ‘edit_posts’, ‘edit_published_posts’, ‘edit_others_posts’ capabilities are required.
In order to edit users: ‘lists_users’, ‘edit_users’ capabilities are required.
So this worked to allow our editors to edit users. They still can’t approve or edit comments though. They see that comments are awaiting moderation, but when they click on it all they see is their own comments.
Check if ‘edit_others_posts’ is turned on for the ‘Editor’ role. If that will not help try to deactivate all plugins and re-check. If plugins deactivation resolves problem, try to activate them back one by one to find a plugin which causes the issue.
My problem is, I cannot give moderate_comments capability whithout edit_other_pages.
It is just mentioned, that ‘edit_posts’, ‘edit_published_posts’, ‘edit_others_posts’ are necessary, but in my case ‘edit_others_page’ is also necessary, which I don’t want.
As well a problem of Word Press?
(My WP Version is 4.3.1 and User Role Editor Version is 4.22)
A key rule here – in order to moderate comments user should have permission to edit that post or page. If comments related to the page of other author, not post, then ‘edit_other_pages’ is necessary.
I have a single-page Site and didn’t think in pages, but now I understand the sense. Thank you – even though I wish it would be different … 🙁
