Some of my posts are e-zine clippings from other authors. I’d like to begin the post page with a tailored introduction of the article that puts it in the context of my site. An editorial introduction as it were.

I’d like this to appear before the post itself, rather than after the posting as normal comments do.

Is there a feature that I’m not aware of (and since I’m pretty new to WP, there are lots that I’m not aware of) or a plug-in that does this?

    Thanks

  • I guess I’m not understanding. Why could you not put the editorial text before the “clippings” in the post itself?

These are the usage requirements from emagazine.com. I really don’t wish to alter the article: even so much as putting something of mine (my introduction) between the headline and the text body.

If you wish to publish/reprint any article from our site in your ezine, website, blog, forum, RSS feed or print publication, you must:

    • Respect the copyrights of the authors by publishing the entire article as it is with no changes.
    • Agree to include the FULL Resource box or SIG line at the end of the article.
    • Agree not to change the title or content of the article in any way.
    • Agree to make all links so that they are Active/Linkable with no syntax changes.

Which page do you want this on?

If it’s all pages, I guess you could just put it in the header.

As I understand your reply, this would allow one permanantly fixed introduction for each and every post on the blog. Not at all what I’m looking for.

Sorry for not making myself clear. Let’s use the analogy of the MC at a dinner ceremony with several guest speakers. The MC gives a separate and unique intro that needs to preceed each speech, and would be different for each speech. The intro might mention the speaker’s credentials, the reason the speech is important to the proceedings, etc.

From a WP point of view it looks like a comment (or meta comment), written by the ‘admin’ that preceeds the posting. So, is there a plug-in that does this function or is there some API that already covers this feature?

    Thanks.

I’ve never heard of such a plugin, which doesn’t mean there isn’t one.

Why couldn’t you type the intro before the rest of the blog post?

    Thanks.
    JAH
