my ability to change the settings are gone too. the classic editor was working but now has been replaced with a mess that i assume is gutenburg.
I just installed the plugin and I don’t have any settings for it on the Settings->writing page either. It does seem to be working, as it’s changed the editor back to looking like it was, but I don’t have any way to change the settings.
If you have the Classic Editor plugin and the Classic Editor Addon installed and activated, you won’t see the settings to change the editor back and forth in the Settings-Writing area. Just deactivate the Classic Editor Addon plugin and then go to Settings>Writing and then you will be able to toggle back and forth between the classic editor and Gutenberg.
agreed, that’s how it should work, but that’s not what happening. i’ve deactivated and reactivated. i’ve uninstalled and reinstalled, but no matter – it’s still showing g’berg with classic editor and classic editor add on installed and active.
i have several other sites that i operate and i understand this is not expected.
I also don’t see any editor options on the Writing Settings screen.
We’re running v5.0.3 multisite, and the plugin can only be network-activated. I didn’t see any options for it in network admin or site admin.
We are on 5.0.3 multisite too. I just found the options:
In Network Admin > Settings > Network Settings
at the bottom of the screen:
Classic Editor Allow site admins to change settings (checkbox)
This then gives the Settings> Writing option on a per-site basis. It defaults to the classic editor and allows site admins to set their preferred default and whether users are allowed to change their own preferences.
I’d personally like it if the default could be set at the network level as well, as we’d prefer to move everyone to Gutenberg by default, but give them the option of reverting if they choose – as it stands they won’t even know that Gutenberg is there.
I also found the option on the Network Settings page.
Thanks,
