  • Hi

    Same issue here, it only works with Elementor if the option “Other instances of the Classic (TinyMCE) editor in wp-admin” is not activated.

    Please fix it…

    Thanks

    Thanks for the bug report. Will investigate.

    Please use the workaround (deactivate “Other instances of the Classic (TinyMCE) editor in wp-admin”) for now.

    If I deactivate other instances, I get the normal text editor inside Elementor and not TinyMCE. I think better solution for now is to rollback to 5.5. using WP Rollback plugin

    In a related issue, the Advanced Editor is preventing/blocking the ability to edit some Elementor widgets.

    Same here.
    After updating 5.5.1, Elementor text widget is blank.
    Rollbacked to 5.5.0

    Same here.

    If one starts with all TinyMCE settings at their defaults and is very careful about how many changes are made to the toolbar configuration, the plugin will function almost normally with Elementor. But there are still glitches. Please refer to this page for screenshots taken from both mostly-functioning and non-functioning configurations.

    Think I found the problem but it needs to be fixed in Elementor.

    This line: https://plugins.trac.wordpress.org/browser/elementor/tags/3.0.11/core/editor/editor.php#L584 has to be changed from

    'tinymceHasCustomConfig' => class_exists( 'Tinymce_Advanced' ),

    to:

    'tinymceHasCustomConfig' => ( class_exists( 'Tinymce_Advanced' ) || class_exists( 'Advanced_Editor_Tools' ) ),

    That solves the problem. Thank you.

    Do we need to change the code or will code be changed inside of Elementor?

    Changing the code worked for me also, thanks!

    For anybody else trying to do this, here is where the file lives:
    /wp-content/plugins/elementor/core/editor/editor.php

    DUMB QUESTION: When the Elementor plugin updates, this will be overwritten correct?

    I reported this to Elementor and here is their response.

    I am sorry in this case you will need to contact TinyMCE plugin support. They would be in a good position to assist you. Please note that we don’t provide support for third-party plugins or themes as we don’t have any control over their code. How Do I Get Premium Support?
