Support » Installing WordPress » editor disappeared after 3.3 upgrade

  • Hello,

I have just upgraded to the latest version of WordPress but now the HTML editor doesn’t work. All buttons, bar the media uploader icon, have disappeared. And I can’t switch to the Visual editor at all.

    I have already tried to:

    – deactivate all plugins
    – change theme
    – delete cookies
    – check if visual editor is enabled (it is)

I don’t really know what else to do bar trying to install wordpress manually but I haven’t got the slightest idea of how to do that.

    Can anyone help please?

  • Hi beautywithbrain,

I don’t know if this will work for you but it’s worth a try. I had this problem with the last upgrade.

I logged into my web hosting account. Checked under “security” for “Hotlink Protection” My host had it set to “enabled” by default. When I disabled it ..all of my cons reappeared.

Hotlinking by the way is just a way to keep others from using your bandwidth by “linking” to your images.
For some reason WordPress stopped rendering images with hotlink protection enabled. I knew icons were still there by hovering my mouse but could not see them.

Again I don’t know that this is your issue or not but it certainly won’t hurt to try.

    All the best

I’M HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM. I’VE TRIED ALL THE ABOVE. HELP PLEASE. THIS IS VERY FRUSTATING!!!

Secondly, please stop posting in uppercase. It’s the electronic equivalent of shouting and is considered quite rude.
