Same problem here!
Using Astra theme, Elementor builder, and WooCommerce plug-in. Whichever page I set the “shop page” dashboard > WooCommerce > Settings > Products > Shop Page will get the same message.
I have tried disabling plug-ins one by one, changing my theme, my template, and even deleted pages to start over.
Can anyone explain the function of setting a page as a “shop” page? Or isn’t it completely necessary? Trying to understand it’s function.

@americole the shop page is basically an archive of your products. You can read more about that at What is the Shop page? – Documentation.
Depending on how you’d like to sell products on your store, you can configure your shop to not have a shop page.
