Editing Theme Files (6 posts)

    Hello World,

I am very new to wordpress but have decided on a theme that I would like to use for recreating my website. It is The Responsive Theme built by Emil. When I started to create some of my landing page today, I noticed that the text comes out very large and that it starts to create a really long landing page.

I'm aware that I can go into the css files on godaddy and edit the files, but I am wondering what types of edits I should be making in order to make this information more readable.

Also: wondering how I can add text within the home widgets (the widgets on the landing page)

You should avoid modifying the original theme's files, as any modifications made will erase once the theme updates.

For appearance changes only, you could use a Custom Style/CSS plugin.

For appearance and all other changes, you should use a Child Theme.

Okay, I understand that and I agree its better to play it safe.

However, if you look at the theme i am using on a dummie website that I am creating using The Responsive Theme, I have been running into a problem of the text in the description page (under the header and subheader). it is really large and causes the page to run below the fold. i know that this is probably a result of fluidity, but I was thinking that the best way to fix that would be to edit in the css sheets.
here is the link to my test website

If Emil was here, I know for a fact that he'd tell you not to edit the parent theme. You can ask him yourself via http://themeid.com/forum/

it is really large and causes the page to run below the fold.

Can you provide imagery and perhaps annotations here, illustrating this?

if you see, the page runs longer and you have to scroll down towards the bottom to be able to see get to where the widgets are. I"m wondering why the text under the heading is so large ?
