    Greetings,

I started using the Edin theme on WordPress.com. I added 85% of my content there before exporting to WordPress.org so I could self-host and create a child theme. However, I have lost the ability to easily edit the three Front Page text snippets (summaries?) which were easily customized in the .com version of Edin. They are not widgets, and I do not have any widgets installed there, so that content is pulling from somewhere…but I can’t seem to find where in order to edit it. Make sense?

  • Hi there!

Do you have the Front Page template assigned to your home page? If so, you can navigate to Appearance > Customizer and then assign pages to display above the widgets on your home page via the Theme Options panel there. The excerpts for each of your chosen pages can then be edited to change what appears on the home page.

If that doesn’t help, please provide a link to your site in your next reply and we can then more clearly see what you’re referring to.

    Hi, Siobhan

I do have the static Front Page template assigned to my home page. And I have currently assigned three pages to display. But I can’t edit the page excerpts. The content in the excerpt area is not occurring on the pages themselves. Does that make sense?

Do you mean that you don’t see the excerpt module while editing the page itself?

If so, please click on the “Screen Options” tab in the upper right of the editor and then check the box next to “Excerpt” there. After that box is checked, scroll to the bottom of the page to find the excerpt module, where you can enter a custom excerpt to appear alongside that page.

Let me know if those steps are clear and if they help out.

Yes! That did the trick. Appreciate your help, Siobhan.

Great! 🙂 We’re right here if anything else comes up, too.
