    Hello Friends,

I am the owner of a group blog and I was wondering how I make it so that only I (the site admin) can edit posts. Currently, it seems like any user can edit any other user’s post.

I looked for a way to do this in Options, but I didn’t see anything.

Thank you in advance for any assistance you might be able to throw my way!

It’s all based on user levels. Here’s a description of the levels.

Hi Ming, thank you for your quick reply!

Everyone other than me has a User Level of 1 and they can all do what it seems like what this page says Level 2 users can do, e.g. write posts that do not wait for a approval to be posted, edit posts other than their own, etc.

    Am I missing something?

    What version of WordPress?

Hello, thank you for replying in my hour of need!

    It’s WP 1.2.2

These are the user levels for WP v1.2.x:

    Hi macmanx, thanks for responding.

The problem is this: in the dashboard, what the wiki is saying is the case, i.e. people can only edit their own posts.

However, if they go to the blog, and are logged in, they can edit ANY and all posts, that is, all the posts have the “Edit This” link, and can be edited by any user, even if they have a user level of 1.

Maybe there is a way for me to edit the template so that the “Edit This” link doesn’t show up on posts at all?

Yeah, you can delete the tag from your templates.

I’m a newbie to WP…I have a level 1 user that cannot edit a comment they made to a previous post. What have I done wrong?
