Editing Home Page

  • I realize this question has been asked quite a few times, but the answers I found on the other boards aren’t really helping me; I’m completely new to using the WordPress platform and just web building in general, so sorry if I sound ignorant or if I’m not understanding some things correctly.

I have a lot of problems, actually, but my most immediate concern is that I cannot edit the home page whatsoever.

The thing is, my brother bought the domain and set up the website with WordPress and everything, then he made me a second admin and left it to me. Everything is essentially blank except for the homepage right now, and I can’t figure out how to edit it.

It’s not listed as a blog and it’s not listed as a page. Even if I make a page titled ‘Home’ and leave it blank and view the homepage, it’s still the one my brother made. Changing themes or editing the theme doesn’t affect it at all either. Even when I go to Setting > Readings and change the front page displays to something else, it’s still that page. It’s already set as a static page, but going down the dropdown menu to select a different page still does not change the appearance of the front page.

I can provide more information on the issue, but this is all that comes to mind right now.

I’m very confused, can anyone explain this to me? Thanks.
