 * You cannot access the old database that way. When you change hosts, the crucial
database info in wp-config.php changes to work with the new hosting environment.

 * Then you do not have anything to put into your new database; that is, you do
not have your old site’s content, as that is were all your posts, pages and settings
   are stored … oops 🙂
 * You are now starting from scratch without a DB backup to import. As Krishna pointed
out, the DB info in your previous wp-config.php is not relevant to the new one.

 * Ask your old host if they have backup still with them for your site . They do
store some backups i recovered when my site crashed on hostgator .

 * Good to know. I didn’t know that saving the database is the holy grail of WordPress
hehehe. I hate having to know this the hard way.
 * just to say i went from go daddy hosting to hostgator.
