# Editing dashboard

 * Hi,
   I have been trying to edit my dashboard page. I could add custom links to
   my sidebar but there is no icon being shown if I follow instructions on this 
   official documentation; [https://docs.themeum.com/tutor-lms/developers/editing-tutor-dashboard/#adding-new-link](https://docs.themeum.com/tutor-lms/developers/editing-tutor-dashboard/#adding-new-link)
 * I also used this one to show an embedded content or block as a new template instead
   of a link; [https://wordpress.org/support/topic/new-tab-on-tutor-dashboard/](https://wordpress.org/support/topic/new-tab-on-tutor-dashboard/)
   but it didn’t work also. Even though I update my permalinks, I get 404.
   Is there
   any information on this? How to add a simple template and show it? Thanks.

 * Thank you for reaching out. To show an icon, please make sure you’re using a 
   valid icon class. If you’ve already done this, try clearing any site cache so
   the changes can take effect.
 * For the 404 issue, please double-check that the shortcode you’re trying to use
   is valid. Also, if you’re adding custom links to echo a shortcode inside the 
   Tutor LMS Dashboard, you’ll need to add a new view file inside the **`tutor/templates/
   dashboard/`** directory. The file name should match the index you’ve registered(
   e.g., `custom_link.php` in case your index is `custom_link`).
 * This way, Tutor LMS will know which template to load when that menu item is clicked.
