Support » Plugin: Simple Event Management – Sugar Calendar (Lite) » Editing Calendar Output

  • Resolved kozaz

Huge fan of this plugin so far! I’ve tried dozens of calendar plugins and they’re all incredibly bloated for what I generally need them to do.

One thing I ran into was I couldn’t find a way to edit the calendar output. I’d like to add a few classes, such as an has-event class to the day container, and a little additional output, like the start time.

I found the files in sugar-calendar-lite/includes/themes/legacy. But is there a way to add these to my theme so I can change the output? Obviously don’t want to change the plugin files directly.

Hey there! So glad you’re enjoying Sugar Calendar so far. Right now, there isn’t an easy way to change the output that doesn’t involve writing some PHP using WordPress hooks.

If you’re familiar with them, I can walk you through some examples. If not, I’m happy to make you something quick to get you started.

Either way, we can definitely add classes easily, and add hooks in places if there aren’t any.

One of the eventual goals was to provide some theme compatibility (like bbPress and other plugins do) with the legacy files, but then Gutenberg happened and we’ve changed our minds a bit about investing too much time in the old-way when the new-way is here now.

Happy to help however we can!

    Hey John,

Thanks for the quick reply—and apologies for my tardy one. I’ll keep a closer eye on replies.

Hooks and PHP are just what I am looking for. So, yes, if you had some time that would be fantastic.

What I am looking to do is add a class, such has ‘has-events’ when the day has events under it, to the div on the calendar which currently has the class ‘sc_day_div’.

In addition, I’d like to add some text, such as the start time and category, to the link text of each event in the calendar.

I didn’t see any hooks for these, but just let me know if I missed them 🙂

Thanks again for the quick reply and wonderful plugin!
