edit wordpress locally?

  • New to WordPress. I want to edit on local host server (I’ve already installed WAMP)then upload any changes to remote -Live – server. I understand to see the website on local computer the way it will be on the remote server the databases must be in synch. Is there a clean and easy way to do this? Thanks!!

  • Dump the online database, access your localhost/phpmyadmin, create a database, import the dump of your online database. Remember that you’ll have to change the wp-config.php to use the info for your local database instead of the online info.

[Edit: truthfully, you don’t have to have the online database available; any old wp database setup will do, but if you have tweaks to make to the post display etc. it’s helpful to have the “real deal”.]
