    Using TwentyTen theme, the text on the tag in the menu bar is automatically loaded as the heading to the page, eg The home page has 'Home' at the top. I don't want this. How do I delete it using my child theme?

    Actually what happens is that the menu item, by default, takes the title of the page it is displaying.

    You can make any page you like the 'Home' page, using Dashboard --> Settings --> Reading. So, for example, the home page for this site:

    Yorkshire Dales Photography

    is actually called, "Showcasing the beautiful scenery of the Yorkshire Dales". If the link is broken, BTW, it just means the site has gone live and you just need to drop the "/wp/" from the link URL.

    So the question then becomes, "How do I get the menu to display, "Home" when the page has a completely different title? The answer is that you need to be using a custom menu as your Primary Navigation menu. When you do that, and when you add your home page to the menu, you can alter the "Navigation Label" to be whatever you want.

    If you're not sure about any of this, or if I've misunderstood you, please post again and I'll try to do better.

    or add this to style.css of your child theme:

    .page .entry-title { display: none; }
