Edit to a permalink – consequences?

    Hi, my sites up and running now but I just noticed a typo.
    I’ve got a blog roll as the home page and then pages to make up the other static stuff like links, about, contact etc

    When I was setting it up I set the about page up as ‘Abou’ and then noticed later and added the missing ‘t’.

    But now my about page is mydomain/abou

    if I change the permalink what are the consequences, if any… got a funny feeling about changing the url 🙂

    If I remember correctly, if you change the page information then change and reset the permalinks you *should* be OK.

    Is this relevant to search engines or just the page rename?

    I have just renamed some pages on my own site and all worked OK, though I can’t take resposibility for your system, or anything you might do with it!

    have found that when you change the permalink for the page, wordpress recognises it as a new page rather than as an edited page. So if you had any facebook share counts, or traffic data for the page, comments from readers on it etc, you lose all of that as WP identifies it as a new page. Hope this helps.
