I have a number of images uploaded, that I’d prefer not to have to upload all over again. The problem however, is that the attachment page is not the page they are now showing up on. How do I change the permalink information to point to the correct page so that when people view the larger image, the breadcrumbs take them back to the page the images are actually on?

Example: Winter Photos Only contains winter photos. However, Waterfront Park in Fall – 2, which had originally been uploaded to the winter page, is now situated on the Fall page. But when you look at the breadcrumb link for this image, it still points back to the Winter page.

I’ve gone into the media image edit screen, and while it tells me what page the image was originally attached to, I can’t edit that to show it now being attached to the new page. I need the attachment page as opposed to the file image itself, because I’m selling these images as cards and the fotomoto purchase bar only shows up on a webpage.

I have this permalink issue with a number of the 60+ images that I’ve reorganized into seasonal galleries each on their own seasonal page. It would be so much easier for me if I could just copy and paste correct attachment page information, or reassign attachment page information.

    Any way to do this?

Ok, thankfully it appears a few plugins have been written for this. Using one now.

Hi Songdove, I am looking to resolve an issue same as you have described.
I’ve been searching through the plugin repository and just not been able to find the appropriate one.

Would you mind sharing which plugin you found to work for editing the media permalinks?

    Thanks Dennis

    Hi Dennis,

The plugin I ended up using was this one: https://wordpress.org/plugins/attach-and-unattach/

Thanks very much for the reply. For anyone else who may chance upon this issue I also found this plugin good and ended up using it, as the plugin support/updating is current: https://wordpress.org/plugins/xili-re-un-attach-media/

Worked well, I was able to re-attach the media items to the newer page I wished them to be associated with. Previously they were still attached to a page that I had totally changed and had deleted these images from it. However, WP was still referencing them to it.

    Cheers Dennis
