Edit Meta Widget to remove wordpress.org link? How to..

Hi,

I’m using the latest version of wordpress and I read somewhere that I need to edit the default-widget.php to remove the link to wordpress and all that other stuff but there is no such file in the packet I just downloaded from wp so is it a new file now?

Is there some way that I can just have a login/log out and register option? I don’t need the feeds or the wordpress.org link.
