edit links not working

    I am trying to remove password protection from a post. When I go to to the edit post page, in the publish box, for visibility, it says password protected. When I click on ‘edit’ the page jumps down a few lines, and that’s it. I thought maybe if I changed the page from published to draft, that would make a difference. So again in the publish box, I clicked on the edit link in the status line, and absolutely nothing happens. What am I missing here? Is there something that locks this publish box functionality that I need to unlock? FYI I am new user.

    Have you tried:

    – deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

    – switching to the default theme to rule out any theme-specific problems.

    – resetting the plugins folder by FTP or PhpMyAdmin. Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.
