# Edit link shows url

 * I am attemping to add an “edit” link to the list display per the directions:
 * [https://xnau.com/adding-an-edit-record-link-to-the-frontend-list/](https://xnau.com/adding-an-edit-record-link-to-the-frontend-list/)
 * I was able to get this to work, but it shows the url instead of the word “edit.”
   Is this the expected behavior?

 * Did you use a placeholder field with a default value of “edit” to show the edit
   link? The default value provides the clickable text.

 * I had placed it in the “values” column, instead of “default.” It’s working now!
