    I'm trying to change the widget heading for the subscriptions widget to lower case. I went into .../plugins/modules/subscriptions.php and found "Subscribe to Blog via Email" under 'public static function defaults()'.

    I changed it to lower case and saved, but it's still showing up on my site (www.lynnunderwood.com) with upper case letters. Clearing my cache and the rest of recent history for today doesn't seem to help.

    What am I missing?

    Modifying plugin files is not a good idea at all - those changes will be lost when the plugin is updated.

    This is actually just a CSS question - so try adding this to your child theme CSS:

    #blog_subscription-2 h3 {
        text-transform: lowercase;
        }

    OK. Thanks.
    While that worked, it didn't get carried through to my duplicate of the widget in the "Spiritual Connection Sidebar" (using the Duplicate plugin). Couldn't see why it didn't. But I did see that I could edit the widget title and subscription button in the widget config page, and that seemed to work well.

    Any idea why this doesn't work?

    #blog_subscription-2 {
    border: 1px,solid,black;
    }
