# Edit html?

 * Brand new to wordpress. Hope this isn’t a stupid question. Trying to edit a theme.
   If I want to edit the html, how do I do it? The Theme Editor shows only php and
   css files. I thought that html would be mixed in with php, but I can’t find it.
   When I “view source” the page (with my browser)I can see the html but I can’t
   edit it. Thanks for any help!!

 * Even though a page might end in .php, it is (most of the time) written dominantly
   in HTML. To edit a theme file, you will need to go into Presentation, then into“
   Edit Theme”. If there is no “save” button, you need to change the permissions
   on the files so that they can be edited, but it would take a while to explain.
   Go to the Codex at [http://codex.wordpress.org/](http://codex.wordpress.org/)
   and that should have everything you need.
