Support » Fixing WordPress » Edit header- Twenty eleven

  • Hi,
I am using a dark twenty eleven child theme.
I would like to use a Header image/banner that has text and a transparent background for the page body background to show through.

I have the image with the transparent background but the header area of my dark twentyeleven child theme is dark gray. vs. the page background that I want.
Any suggestions on how to do this?

I’m guessing you just remove the color from the entry where it says that particular color but I can’t locate it. Is this going to be in the themefunctions.php file?? which is where I found and changed the header size.

  • Hi chester_419,

Colors are controlled by CSS style sheets, usually named style.css in WordPress. When I’m trying to figure out what CSS is controlling something on a site, I use the Firebug addon with Firefox to inspect the CSS of the element I want to change. You can even make test changes in Firebug to see how it will affect the page before editing your style sheet. Also, before you make changes to your style sheet, you will want to make sure you are using a Child Theme.

    Hope this helps!

I think I clearly stated that I am using a child theme.
But, I am not using firefox so this doesn’t help me. I was hoping someone would know how to remove this background color.

    Hi chester_419,

Since you’re using a Child Theme and didn’t provide us with a link to your site, there is no way for anyone to know what CSS is controlling the area you wish to change. If you do not wish to try using Firefox, I would suggest looking for a similar tool for the browser you prefer.

    Good luck!

sorry, but my site is an adult site and i’m not going to post a link on here. thanks for your help, though.
