On Clean install, 3.5.1 with default template, a strange thing occurs when editing Gallery shortcode IF there are more then ONE Gallery in a singhle post.

After edit/ cancel (or save) a shortcode on fresh pageload, and then edit another shortcode on the same post, the new media manager show a cluttered version of both shortcodes/ missing images in the Media manager. Each gallery has more than 12 images.

I find no script errors in debug.

I tried all kinds of edit order, page refresh order, new blank pages with new galleries, new uploaded images, shift between visual editors, in new order, and so on.

When deactivating Media Library Assistant everything works fine. On all installs, all variants in my tests.

I also tried on older installs, live, with diffrent plugins activated and the same issue occurs. MLBA somehow mix things up.

I never seen this before, couse I never used more then one shortcode/ Gallery on a post OR actually tried to edit more than ONE gallery shortcode at the same time.

  • Also tested on new install on version 3.5.2 with same issue. Completely new post with 2 Galleries and 10 – 15 pictures in each shortcode.

REMARK, the first click on edit Gallery icon works fine, but after cancel the media manager, and click to edit another Gallery icon, on the same post (without page reload), the media manager content get mixed up.

And Disabling the Assistant plugin removes all the problems.

Thanks for this report and for taking the time to try all of the combinations of editing and refreshing and upgrading to 3.5.2. I know how frustrating this issue must be.

I will investigate and report my progress with updates to this topic.

The new Media Manager code introduced in v3.5 is very powerful, but also very complex and not yet documented. It includes a lot of logic to cache sets of images related to different galleries, etc. and MLA must not be handling that properly.

One question – does refreshing the page between edits clear things up, at least for the first edit after the refresh?

One suggestion. While I’m working on this, I believe you can avoid the problem without disabling the plugin. If you go to the Settings/Media Library Assistant screen, General tab and scroll down you will see a section labeled “Media Manager Enhancements“. If you uncheck the box labeled “Enable Media Manager Enhancements” MLA will not add any code to the Media Manager and the problem should clear up. Let me know if you try that and what the results are for you.

Thank you for your help and for your patience.

I was able to reproduce the issue you reported, and discovered that the problem will occur even with just one [gallery] shortcode on a page/post.

I have found and fixed a couple of bugs in the way MLA handles Ajax requests from the Media Manager. I believe these fixes will solve the problem, and they will be in my next release. In the interim you can avoid the problem by unchecking the “Enable Media Manager Enhancements” box as described above.

If you would like to get the fix before my next release, send me your e-mail address, using the “Contact Us” page at our web site:

I have released version 1.41, which should correct this defect. Please let me know if you have any problems with the new release.

If you’ve disabled the MLA Media Manager enhancements, please re-enable them and let me know if the gallery thumbnails problem goes away.

Thanks for your interest and your patience.

Hi, Im back working on the multi gallery template again and gonna see if there is an improvment. Reporting the statement of Resolved later.
