edit content with inspect elements

    Hi, I have never used any code etc before. I have managed to make a child theme! I can get into inspect elements on my page and change the colour of a menu bar. the change shows but then there is nowhere to save the changes and when i reload everything i did is gone. I have spent hours reading the forums but dont understand what to do. I downloaded and installed filezilla but that is double dutch to me too. I then read about changing permissions and tried to do that too but then had to reinstall the backup as I obviously did that wrong too. Can anyone give me an easy to understand outline of steps to follow.

    Hi, for styling related changes you need to write CSS in style.css of your theme and for changing html elements, need to check appropriate template file being called, as inspect element is just for hit and trial purpose, it wont save anything, when you reload page, everything will be gone.

    I think i found the right place in
    In the files I went to public_html/wp-content/themes
    Then found the child theme I had made. Then went to style.css when I opened this a notepad came up. I have previously copied and pasted the changes into here directly from the inspect element but then nothing happened. Do I need to upload it? or did i copy the wrong information?

    yes, you need to re-upload file on server after making changes.
