[Resolved] Edit Comment padding and font smaller

  • Hi, I am not a pro at coding and will really appreciate help in changing the look of comments on my page. At the moment every comment takes up a lot of unnecessary space: the font is too big, and the padding at the bottom and top of the comment is too large. I have tried changing font and ‘margin’ sizes in my style sheet, but it didn’t make a difference. Please see the page with comments here:

    I am not entirely sure where to make these changes or what code to add to the original style sheet.
    I really appreciate the help!

  • You should create a Child theme to make your changes. If you do not, all of your changes will be lost if you update your theme.

    Try adding this to the end of your child theme’s style.css:

    .commentlist {  line-height: 1.2em; }
    .commentlist .comment { margin: 0; padding: 5px 15px; }

    You should be able to test this by adding it to the end of your theme’s style.css file, but create a child theme for a permanent fix.

    Hi, thank you very much for the help and for making me aware of Child themes! I am going to be working on setting up the child theme today. I haven’t made much changes to the theme yet, so it should be simple to copy the coding to the child theme.
    In the meantime I have made the changes to the style sheet and it works like a charm! Thank you for your help I appreciate it.
