So WP Cerber was causing many of our customers sites to seemingly lose the connection with our site needed to use the Easy Digital Downloads Software Licensing extension. The error we were getting for licenses was ‘License status unknown’.

So for now we’ve had to disable WP Cerber. Are you able to fix this?

So I asked Pippin the developer of EDD about this and he would like to know whether the plugin offers any options to whitelist specific endpoints on a site?

    Hi!

I think you should uncheck Disable REST API on the Hardening tab.

We didn’t have that checked. Also we have another plugin enabled that disables the REST API and we still have that enabled now, so I don’t think it’s that.

Could you make some investigation on the topic? I mean reproduce mentioned errors and inspect the Activity tab.

What does EDD mean by the “specific endpoints”? I think it’s all about REST API.

Have you enabled the Cerber antispam engine? Probably there is some conflict.

So since disabling the antispam engine it seems to work. I don’t understand that though as I thought the antispam measures were more about blocking bad actors from submitting forms, and wouldn’t interfere with communication between our website and other sites (the licensing system).

The EDD plugin author said to let you know that URLs that contain ?edd_action={value} would need to be whitelisted and/or bypassed.

Whitelisting a specific URI with query parameters will be implemented soon.

You can enable antispam engine for comment and registration forms. It doesn’t affect EDD functionality.

    Hi!

Since the 5.5 version you can whitelist queries with the string ?edd_action= to avoid conflicts between Cerber anti-spam and EDD. Use the new setting field: Query whitelist.
