# ecommerce advice

 * I am creating a wordpress site for a Gym, he’s a startup and doesn’t have any
   kind of budget to work with so he needs a cheap solution. He would like to sell
   memberships on his site, as well as allow people to enroll in his classes (with
   option of auto-recurring payments). He also wants to sell products (gloves, mouth
   guards, wrist wraps, head gear etc) with direct shipping from the supplier and
   him just be a purchasing gateway. I believe he only intends to use paypal as 
   a payment method…
    I’ve done a fair amount of research, but the more research
   I do, the more options I see and without actually trying out all of the various
   plugins that are available, I’m at a loss as to which would be the best for his
   situation. I am a recent Drupal convert, so WP is still fairly new to me though
   I’m getting around pretty well. I’ve considered using a something like zencart
   or magento, oscommerce etc, but those don’t appear to have a lot of actual “website”
   functionality and I would like to stick with WP anyway. So, That being said, 
   amid all the options out there, which one is going to suit his needs? Thank you
   in advance for the suggestions!

 * The main e-commerce plugin that I’ve used before is woocommerce. it’s probably
   one of the more recently developed and better supported ones at this point in
   time so it’s worth a look. There’s a fair few others out there as well, so have
   a look through the ‘Plugins’ section of this site and you’ll find a whole lot
   to play around with.

 * his main concern is the ability to “Pre-Register for an upcoming class”
    Selling
   products online is secondary to that.

 * Did you look for yourself to see what each one does? 😉 That’s normally the fastest
   and easiest way to see if something is going to meet your requirements. If you
   want to actually see how these work you will need to install each one and try
   it out. Without doing that there’s never going to be any wya that you’ll be certain
   that any of them will meet your needs.
 * Remmeber also that a lot of these plugins have extra add-on plugins that are 
   sold commercially that give you extra functionality (the development companies
   have to make some money from this), and that’s most likely where you’ll find 
   the extra parts that you’ll want.
