    Hello,

I have encountered this problem on two sites, I managed to fix it so I attach links to screenshots of how it looked with the problem unsolved. However, the problem is critical – I tried to find solution for two days while the client’s website was unusable.

At some point in time my page suddenly lost all styling made in the editor (it’s a one-page layout, everything is edited in full site editor). If you inspect the website you can see that there is no EB stylesheet from eb-style folder linked to any of the elements.

The stylesheet didn’t go anywhere, it is still in its place. I was working normally on the backend of the website, I guess the last thing I changed before it lost the styling was removing the default “Hello World” post – I am not using posts anywhere on the page – only static content from full site editor so I decided to remove this one post because spam crawlers try yo add comments to such posts if only the posts are available through direct links (so – if they’re published).

What’s more interesting – in the editor (FSE) I still can see the website styled as it should look!

However! The published website looks fine only if you have at least one published post (for example – the default “Hello World” one but it can be anything, it can be an empty post but it must be published). If I have this post and it is published (even though it is not visible anywhere on the page!) the website looks like it should. If I remove the only post or it is a draft (not published) I end up with this monstrosity:

    View post on imgur.com

On imgur you can find the screenshot of the crashed website (with the only post removed from wordpress) and screenshots showing what is the difference in stylesheets on the crashed and non-crashed website.

On the crashed website the uploads/eb-style stylesheet is also absent in the Sources window of website inspector (Chrome browser) so I guess it isn’t linked to the website content at all. However, there aren’t any errors logged in the website console.

    TL;DR:
There must be at least one published post in WordPress, otherwise Essential Blocks is crashing and loosing all styling.

  • Hello @sokol07,

I hope you are doing well.

And I am sorry to hear about this inconvenience caused.

This is really strange! I have tried recreating the same issue on my end. But It seems everything is working well here. I assume there is any other reason behind this issue. I have checked your website. It seems your styles is loading correctly in the homepage but when I tried to check the blog, it didn’t.

It would be appreciable, If you please share the Site Info then I will give it another try to investigate this. Please go to your WordPress Dashboard -> Tools -> Site Health -> Info -> Copy Site Info to Clipboard. Then paste it in PasteBin and share the link with us.

    Thank you

    Hi,

Yes, at the moment it’s working fine because I have the “Hello World” post published.

If you want to investigate the issue I can temporarily delete this post to cause the issue so you could see it on your own (yesterday I was working on the site with its owner so I needed to be functional, for now I think I should be able to mess it up for the sake of investigation).

    My site info: https://pastebin.com/CcndL4Pr

The good thing is I have the walk-around for this issue, as long I have the post published everything is working fine.

I can replicate this on my site! Very frustrating and lead to us having a broken site for a while! For SEO/sitemap reasons it’s not ideal to have a hidden junk post keeping the site up. Let me know if any help is needed to confirm this issue.

    Hello @sokol07,

I think I’ve understood the reason behind this issue. If the transfer protocol is not a valid HTTPS then our resources of Essential Blocks don’t load. So I request you to set up HTTPS (SSL Certificate) on your website properly. You can set up your SSL Certificate from your cPanel, please check this doc to learn more.

You can also check this official WordPress docs from here – https://wordpress.org/documentation/article/https-for-wordpress/

I hope it will be solved if you follow this and set up HTTPS correctly. Please let me know how it goes.

    Thank you

    Hi,

Unfortunately, I don’t have a SSL certificate bought for this domain and its subdomains as I use my server for creating drafts and I only add SSL certification to the final versions of pages on clients’ servers, not on my server (subdomains of my domain tsokolowski.pl).

However, if adding the SSL will solve the issue I think we can call this a less crucial issue – just an issue, worth noting and possibly solving at some point in future. 🙂 Good to know that it can be solved permanently with the SSL cert and we have a walkaround with having a published post.

    Hi,

I checked one of my clients’ page (wipen.pl) and they have ssl certificate active. However – this error occurred on their website anyway. (It’s a copy of wipen.tsokolowski.pl, created with duplicator).

    Hi,

I can confirm that this version fixes the issue – I have checked it on a non-ssl’ed page, removed the only one post and the stylesheets were loading correctly – the issue is fixed! Thank you very much!

I guess this version (with the fix) will soon be published to WordPress plugins library so I can wait for this and update the plugin on my pages automatically?

    Best regards,

    Hello @sokol07,

I hope you are doing well.

Thanks for your confirmation. We have already released a new version of Essential Blocks (version 3.8.7). You can also use this version to get this fixed.

    Thank you
