# Easy WP SMTP setup

 * I am trying to get Easy WP SMTP configures on my server. I have WordPress installed
   on a Windows server. Both WordPress and Exchange are on the same local network
   but on different servers. The WP server can resolve the local IP of the exchange
   server. When I try to test the email settings, I get the error “SMTP connect()
   failed.” I have tried both SSL and TLS on both ports 465 and 587 but still no
   luck.

 * The latest WordPress (4.3) updated PHPMailer which has broken every PHPMailer-
   based plugin. You could try [a non-PHPMailer SMTP plugin](https://wordpress.org/plugins/postman-smtp/).

 * Thanks Jason. I have now installed PostMan but I am getting a 5.7.3 Authentication
   unsuccessful error. I know the login info is correct. I can log into Outlook 
   OWA with the same creds and they work fine. I have also tried setting the email
   server as both the public address and the internal domain address but I still
   get the same error.

 * You can verify the username and password that Postman sent to your Exchange server
   by examining the Session Transcript in **Tools > Email Log** (look for the encoded
   string after AUTH LOGIN or AUTH PLAIN).
 * If the credentials Postman sent are correct (use a [Base64Decoder](https://www.base64decode.org)
   to check), then you need to take this issue up with your Exchange administrator.

 * I did a little more research and I added a relay agent to my exchange server 
   and it went through.
