Easy way to understand "Giving WordPress Its Own Directory"

    Hi everyone, is there an easy way to understand and follow the codex at the following URL??

    I’ve been locked out of my own blog, while I was changing the site URL etc. Now I’m trying to get back in. But what do I do? If I follow this codex, it causes my blog to lock up.

    I’m trying to get my blog to open from its root directory when other people try to reach it.
