• Hi all,

pulling out my hair here (and I am bald already… πŸ˜‰ )

I started a multisite network some time ago to make administration of several subdomain blogs easier.

In the meantime I ran into too many compatibility problems with plugins and themes that I need to use and would like to get rid of the network.

Is there any reasonably easy way to convert the sites to independend WordPress “single” installs?

to clarify: they will not be moved, will still be on the same subdomain, content, uploads, themes, settings, etc. should all remain the same. Just want to get rid of the multisite problem…

I read a few posts how to disable multisite – that is clear. Otherwise I just found advice to use the export function of WP itself, which obviously does not transport everything.

What I am looking for is a tool that does pretty much what blogzapper does for moving single installs to a new server. Export zip file, Upload zip file, create new database, run installer, done…

Anything? Anyone found a solution for this? I bet I am not the only one…

Not really easy. You’ve got export/import and separate the DB, nether of which is perfect.

Though I THINK there are backup plugins (vaultpress? BackupBuddy?) that I think can do that.

Yeah, suspected that. Will try the plugins you mentioned, xcloner and the like are also worth a try, and if that fails, recreate the blogs the hard way.

I wish it would have said clearly in the multisite docs: “Back off! Enabling multisite is a one-way ticket!! NO reasonable way to reverse this process!!!!”

Luckily I have just a handful of sites, not a huge network…
